Team Iridium stud AJ "The Savage" Cunningham zooms to 5-1 with jaw-dropping, head-kick KO

CALIFORNIA — AJ "The Savage" Cunningham lived up to his nickname on Saturday.

The fast-rising Team Iridium upstart climbed to 5-1 with a jaw-dropping, first-round, head-kick KO for MMAX Fighting Championship in Arkansas.

"I can't think of a better feeling," AJ says when asked about his stunning KO victory. "I always aim to put on a show, and that's one of the most exciting ways to end a fight."

AJ returned to the win column with his victory after falling short in his most recent bout. Taking your first loss as a professional is always a tough pill to swallow, but the personable Arkansas fighter says it was ultimately for the best.

"I'd say 110-percent it's better that I got that first loss out of the way now," AJ says. "Every loss is a lesson learned, and I took many lessons away from that."

Now AJ has his sights set firmly on the future.

"I'm sitting at 45-percent of what I'm capable of," the red-hot Team Iridium fighter says on his way to practice. "I can't wait to get back in the cage and take a big step closer to reaching my potential."
