Team Iridium's José Alday wants to be remembered as Mexico's most legendary fighter



CALIFORNIA — Today we chat with Team Iridium contender José "El Pochito" Alday, one of the baddest fighters in Latin America. With 13 wins to his credit, including several over current UFC fighters, Jose is ready for a breakout year of his own in 2020. ​How did you find MMA to begin with?


After going back to Mexico because of a deportation back in 2011. I found MMA right after and this sport helped me get my mind back in order and gave me a purpose. By mid 2012 I was already competing as an the amateur.


How do you feel about what you've accomplished so far?


I feel like I got into this sport at an advanced age, with no prior martial arts experience. But I’ve travelled around the world fighting and also collected some belts along the way. I believe the best has yet to come!


Why do you think you've been successful in MMA?


I work hard and I strive to be the best version of myself every time I fight.


How has quarantine been for you?


It’s been rough not being able to train as much I would like, but family and safety come first.


How excited are you to get back in the cage?


Very excited. I’ve been sidelined from accomplishing my goals.


What would you like to accomplish in 2020?


At least two victories.


How would you like to be remembered as a fighter?


As the best Mexican fighter, also known for having exciting fights.
