Team Iridium Preview for Wrestling World Championships

LAS VEGAS — Iridium Sports Agency clients David Taylor and Ana Godinez are back on the mat this week at the World Wrestling Championships in Belgrade, Serbia, which begin Saturday on the Olympic Channel via Olympics.com.

David is hunting for his second straight/third overall gold medal in the 86-kilogram weight class at the World Championships. The 32-year-old American also earned a gold medal at the most recent Olympic Games in Tokyo in 2020, and was a two-time NCAA Division I champion at Penn State.

Ana takes aim at her first Senior World Championship in the 62-kilogram weight division. The 23-year-old Canadian finished first at the World U23 Championships in Belgrade, and won back-to-back Pan American Championships earlier this year and in 2022.

Team Iridium Preview for Week 6 of DWCS

LAS VEGAS — Three Iridium Sports Agency clients will compete for UFC contracts at Dana White’s Contender Series on Tuesday at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.

Top lightweight prospects Malik "Hard Knock" Lewis and James “Goku” Llontop lock horns in the Main Event. Malik, the Peak Fighting lightweight champ, is 6-1. All of his wins have come by stoppage (five knockouts, one submission). James, the Fusion FC welterweight champion, is 13-2. He’s on an 11-fight winning streak, with seven wins by KO and one by submission.

In Tuesday's Co-Main Event, Steven "The Ninja" Nguyen looks to climb to 9-1 and bring home a UFC contract at the expense of AJ Cunningham in their featherweight matchup. Steven's resume includes three wins a piece by KO and submission.

Earlier on this season of Contender Series, fellow Team Iridium athletes Cesar Almeida, Kevin Borjas, Luis Pajuelo and Zachary Reese earned UFC contracts.

Team Iridium's Strickland strikes gold at UFC 293

LAS VEGAS — Iridium Sports Agency client Sean “Tarzan” Strickland defeated Israel Adesanya via unanimous decision to become the UFC Middleweight Champion in the Main Event of UFC 293 on Saturday at Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney, Australia.

Saturday’s victory was Sean’s third straight/15th overall win in the Octagon. He also earned Performance-of-the-Night honors – his third Performance Bonus with the UFC. With the win, the former King of the Cage middleweight champ improved his record to 28-5 (11 KOs, four submissions).

Earlier at UFC 293 on Saturday, fellow Team Iridium fighter Chepe "Machine Gun" Mariscal improved to 2-0 in the UFC with a second-round, verbal submission victory over Jack Jenkins in featherweight action. Chepe is now 15-6, 1 NC on the strength of five straight wins. His resume includes six KOs and four submissions.
